Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told reporters that a bombing at a well-known restaurant in Kundalahalli, Bengaluru, today resulted in nine casualties.
Prior to this, the police had stated that they were investigating the cause of the explosion at The Rameshwaram Cafe. When a bomb squad, forensics lab, and anti-terror National Investigation Agency (NIA) team arrived at the cafe, the Chief Minister informed reporters that an improvised explosive device (IED) was used in the attack.
Information suggests that there was an explosion at 1:30 pm. And that a bag was present. The inquiry is now underway. It's becoming clear to me that it was an IED. "The inquiry is ongoing," Siddaramaiah informed the press.
Tejasvi Surya, the Bengaluru South MP for the BJP, claimed in a post on X, formerly Twitter, to have discussed the causes of the explosion that injured four persons with the cafe owner.
"Just talked to Sri Nagaraj, the founder of Rameshwaram Cafe, about the explosion at his eatery. He told me that there was no cylinder explosion—rather, the burst was caused by a bag that a customer had left behind. One of their workers is hurt. It appears to be an obvious bomb blast. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah must provide Bengaluru with unambiguous responses, Mr. Surya stated.
The nine injured people were treated at Brookfield Hospital. They are out of danger, Karnataka Police chief said Alok Mohan said.
